How to Apply for the African Science Academy Fully-funded Scholarship

The African Science Academy (ASA) is a girls-only A-level maths and science school founded by the African Gifted Foundation. Located in Accra, Ghana, the school selects academically gifted girls f¬rom Africa's nooks and crannies with a passion for Math and Science and provide them with fully-funded scholarships for their one-year period of Cambridge A-Levels studies.

Eligibility

Students admitted to African Science Academy are typically between 16-19 years old, female, and f¬rom any African country. But this does not mean that those above 19 years of age cannot apply. Please apply if you meet the following criteria:

  • You must be female.
  • You must be an African.
  • You should have completed secondary school or its equivalent.
  • You must have studied Physics and Maths at secondary school. Please note that ASA is only for the science-inclined.
  • You should have good academic records.
  • You must be fluent in the English language.
  • You must have a passion for learning.

Application Process

  • Application: As stated below, you can apply using the online application link. You can also download the form or get it fro¬m an ASA volunteer, fill it and send it to ASA by email or Post. An ASA volunteer can also help you send the form. Please refer to the how to apply section above for application documents that you need to apply.
  • Entrance Exam: Selected applicants will sit for an entrance exam in their home countries and regions under the supervision of ASA volunteers. The exam consists of a Math Aptitude test, Physics Aptitude test and an essay writing section. Do not worry; the exam is not rocket science 🙃.
  • Interviews: Shortlisted applicants will be interviewed by the ASA team in order to know more about them.
  • Enrollment: Admitted students are flown (if you are an international student) to ASA and spend the next 11 months sharpening their academic skills and unravelling their talents.

How to Apply

You can either apply by downloading and completing the application form or via the online platform by following the steps below. However, My Scholarship Info strongly recommends using the online application.

  1. Complete an application form. You can complete the form online form here.
  2. Alternatively, you can download the paper form here, complete it, scan and email your application forms to: [email protected].
  3. You can also send paper applications by Post to: African Gifted Foundation Ghana, PO Box CO 4394 Tema Community 1, Tema, Ghana Or Hand your application forms into your ASA school volunteer, if your school has one.
  4. Send your completed form and additional documents by 31st January 2022. This includes school transcripts fro¬m the last six terms, any recent national examination certificate (such as BECE or O-Levels) and a recent passport-style photo of yourself. These documents can be sent to [email protected] (please be sure to include your full name in the email).
