2021 MTN mPulse Spelling Bee Competition

The 2021 MTN mPulse Spelling Bee Competition aims to help students in Nigeria improve their English Spelling and vocabulary. 

Following the maiden edition of the mPulse Spelling Bee, MTN Nigeria, in partnership with Nestle Golden Morn, invites all primary & secondary school students between the ages of 9 and 15 to participate in the MTN mPulse Spelling Bee competition. This competition, which aims to help students in Nigeria improve their English Spelling and vocabulary, promises to be thrilling with lots of exciting prizes to be won.

1st Place Winner

  • The student receives an award trophy, 2 million naira scholarship grant, 1 laptop, 1 smartphone, a mPulse goody bag, and a carton of Golden Morn.
  • The teacher receives a 350,000 naira cash prize.
  • The school receives MTN Education Suite (ICT Devices and setup), 10 MTN Hynetflex routers, and 10 laptops.

2nd Place Winner

  • The student receives 1 million naira scholarship grant, 1 smartphone, mPulse goody bag, and 1 carton of golden morn.
  • The teacher receives a 200,000 cash prize.

3rd Place Winner

  • The student receives a 750,000 naira scholarship grant, 1 smartphone, mPulse goody bag, and 1 carton of golden morn.
  • The teacher receives a 100,000 cash prize.

4th- 10th Place Winners

  • Each student receives a 200,000 naira scholarship grant, mPulse goody bag, and 1 carton of golden morn.
  • The teacher gets a 50,000 cash prize.

11th- 20th Place Winners

  • Each student receives a 100,000 naira scholarship grant, mPulse goody bag, and 1 carton of golden morn.

Competition Stages

There are three stages of the competition. 

  • The first stage will be done on the MTN mPulse website and is open to all students resident in Nigeria who are between 9 and 15 years. 
  • The top 1,000 from the first round will be invited for the second round of the competition, which will also be done on the mPulse website. 
  • The first 20 students with the highest scores from the second round will qualify 3rd stage, and the grand finale will be done online via live video conferencing.

Rules and Eligibility

  • The spelling Bee portal opens for practice tests at 3 pm on 1st September 2021.
  • Round 1 Competition runs from 3 pm on 13th September 2021 to 11:59 pm on 3rd October 2021.
  • Competition is open to only boys and girls in primary and secondary schools in Nigeria between 9 and 15 years old as of 13th September 2021.
  • Participants must be residents in Nigeria.
  • Participant’s phone numbers used for registration must be on the mPulse tariff plan. Dial *344*1# to migrate your phone number to the mPulse tariff plan.
  • Participants must have successfully updated their profile on the mPulse website.
  • Participants must have successfully linked with their parent(s) on the mPulse website.
  • The practice test can be done multiple times, but each Quiz round can be taken ONLY ONCE.
  • Ensure you have a quality Internet connection before taking the test
